After recently updating its front of house, the Open Chord asked R2R studio to assist with the redesign of the back bar. The challenge was to allow for more efficient customer service and provide a branded focal point upon entry. The Open Chord is a live music venue and music store that host a variety of musicians and singers focusing on blues, rock, folk, soul and more.
This project required working with a lot of existing features – incorporating the existing bar equipment and plumbing, considering the existing kitchen flow, and implementing the existing bar wall and countertop.
Inspired by the Open Chord brand, Rock and Roll, and Prince’s Purple Rain, our design features a stainless steel cloud above the bar in the shape of the Open Chord logo and lit by purple LED lighting. The signature purple lighting also coats the new steel and glass bar shelving. A black textured vinyl wall-covering was installed to provide a cleanable surface while still adding interest.
