A former industrial site, now home to the Mill & Mine, stands as a testament to resilience and community vision. Originally intended as a music and event venue akin to national spaces, the project faced adversity when a fire ravaged two-thirds of the building. Despite setbacks, the revitalization persisted, resulting in a dynamic 1,200-person venue with an expansive outdoor area and a neighboring catering restaurant.

Designed for versatility, the venue hosts a spectrum of events, from concerts and weddings to community gatherings. Its adjacent restaurant serves as both a complement to the venue and a standalone dining destination. Throughout construction, efforts to restore the building’s historic charm were paramount, including revealing original brickwork and refurbishing existing roof trusses.

The venue, with its sawtooth roof profile allowing ample natural light, has swiftly integrated into Knoxville’s cultural fabric. It hosts various community events and is a cornerstone of the renowned Big Ears Festival. As a catalyst for downtown growth, the Mill & Mine exemplifies the transformative power of adaptive reuse in urban revitalization efforts.
