Petro’s Chili & Chips, a local favorite since its debut at the 1982 World’s Fair in Knoxville, is returning to its roots with its signature chili, chips, and Hint of Orange Tea at their new Market Square location.
The historic building provided an urban backdrop that resonated with Downtown Knoxville’s culture, where it all began. After coordination with Knoxville’s Historic Zoning Commission, the building’s modern exterior retained its character but underwent significant updates to lighting, signage, canopies, and paint.

This location introduces a new interior color palette, featuring muted tones inspired by Petro’s logo and brand. The interior layout was influenced by the previous tenants to manage costs effectively.
Exposed wood ceiling clouds divide the open front-of-house into two seating areas, adding warmth to the cooler color scheme. A striking custom mural of Knoxville by local artisan Paris Woodhull adorns the storefront, offering a glimpse of the city’s charm.
