The rustic elements of a former auto repair shop mixed with the Owner’s eclectic style brought to life the “dive” atmosphere of this barbecue restaurant’s second location. This popular restaurant is located in the Scruffy City’s Art District and initiated the boutique food scene in this outlying downtown area.

The existing footprint was limited, so the design expanded up by adding another story terraced above. This created a meat prep space and outdoor beer garden, providing a well-favored outdoor dining space—and the sweet smell of BBQ—to the downtown scene.
Inside the restaurant, the open-kitchen maximizes the views and aromas to the main dining area, as well as reinforces the social feel of the restaurant and staff. At the cozy bar, a glass garage door enlarges and brightens the interior space in another way. Engaging all of your senses, Sweet P’s Downtown Dive adds some spice to the ever-changing downtown atmosphere.
