Yee-Haw Brewing Co. is an award-winning, local brewing company constantly expanding its reach and from its original location in Johnson City, Tennessee. We set out to create an environment where you could enjoy life in an experience that feels like home – except with the best backyard you’ve ever had.

Yee-Haw Brewing Co. envisioned a beer garden brimming with activities in two other Southeast cities; however, they wanted to implement a more elevated version of their other beer gardens at a larger scale in Knoxville. Emphasis on the video wall and stage for live music remained front-and-center.

For the outdoor areas, R2R studio was involved in the full development of the master plan, designing the outdoor stage and
bar structures, and selecting the lighting and materials. While the stage and bar structures were critical to the function of the space, the outdoor space was meant to be an expansion of the indoor space with an atmosphere that the community would embrace—especially comfortable for families.

The beer garden was decided with clear sightlines to the stage and video wall, flanked by a large bar pavilion and plenty of seating. The grade change created challenges to maintain accessibility, but also set up the site naturally for amphitheater-style seating. The project involved extensive coordination with the audio/visual company for the video wall and stage to feature live music.

The design incorporates the brand’s bright colors of green, blue, and yellow along with formed concrete walls, a large turf yard, and sun shades, all lit by decorative lighting at night. Softening the hardscape and providing shade, the landscaping was designed in collaboration with Land Design Group.

The existing building received a new branding scheme to create a cohesive campus for the Knoxville location. R2R studio assisted heavily in the development of the front-of-house plan and kitchen plan. On the existing building’s renovation, we collaborated with Roost Interior Design who led the charge on exterior and interior finish selections.
